Ally Affinity Group

Chester County LGBTQ+ Ally Affinity Group is designed to build a community and to create safe and inclusive spaces for its participants to share and process experiences, ask questions, exchange information and ideas, and address challenges in the county.

Allies unite…

This group aims to empower and support each other in identifying ways in which we can advocate for the Chester County LGBTQ+ community and use our privilege to bring about social change.

The role of an LGBTQ+ ally is to actively support, advocate for, and stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. An ally uses their voice, privilege, and influence to help create a more inclusive and equitable society, challenging homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of discrimination, especially in Chester County. This group educates themselves about LGBTQ+ issues, listens to and amplifies the voices of LGBTQ+ people, and speak out against prejudice and injustice in their personal, professional, and social circles.

An ally also plays a crucial role in providing emotional support and creating safe spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals feel seen, respected, and valued. This group is open to everyone and aims to demonstrate acceptance and understanding, often by challenging stereotypes and misconceptions, and by modeling inclusive behavior. Participants of the group are at various stages of their ally journeys. You may not know how you want to shw up as an ally—advocating for LGBTQ rights, supporting LGBTQ-inclusive policies, or simply being a dependable friend—all of it contributes to a culture of respect, dignity, and equality for all, helping to reduce the marginalization and discrimination that LGBTQ+ people often face.
